The Importance of Eating Breakfast
You may have heard of the old adage that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But some people skip breakfast in an effort to lose weight by reducing their calorie intake, to catch a couple more minutes of sleep, or some people can’t stomach eating breakfast in the morning. But this can do more harm than good.
Skipping breakfast is strongly linked to the development of obesity and can actually make weight control more difficult. Why is this? Breakfast skippers tend to eat more food than usual at the nextmeal or nibble on high-calorie snacks to stave off hunger.
Also several studies suggest that people tend to accumulate more body fat when they eat fewer, larger meals than when they eat the same number of calories in smaller, more frequent meals. If you tend to hit the snooze button in the morning and breakfast is a low priority when running out the door, or you can’t stomach a meal upon waking, make a healthy protein smoothie! It’s quick, easy and you can make it while you’re putting on your lippy or trimming your beard.
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 tablespoons of protein powder
- 1 cup of frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries
- 1 scoop of cashews
