WHAT IS PILATES MAT CLASS?

Pilates is based on a series of exercises that improve core strength and balance the muscles around the joints, improving the way your body functions, looks and feels. The exercises in a Pilates mat class follow a set of defining principles:

1. Breathing.
2. Centering - focusing on movements coming from a strong core.
3. Concentration - focusing on body awareness.
4. Control - focusing on movements that are performed in a controlled manner.
5. Precision - the quality of movements over the quantity.
6. Flow - movements that flow into each other to increase endurance.

While the class is called a pilates mat class, the exercises can be performed in standing, sitting, and lying positions.

Exercises using equipment can be incorporated into a Pilates mat class, such as resistance bands and Power Circles to add variety and varying levels of intensity.

Each time you come, you will be guaranteed a full body piliates workout, where you will be challenged according to your level in every session.
